We replace your IP address with one of ours.

Your connection will pass through our servers and so if a website or other tries to trace you, they will only see the IP address (and hardware-address) of our server and not of your computer. This way you remain completely anonymous.

Security

Our connections use military-grade 256bit or 128bit encryption. The VPN connection works by encrypting everything between your computer and our VPN server.

If anybody (your ISP, government, workplace or school etc.) spies on you they will only see some encrypted data and they will not know which websites you use or what is in your mail.

All traffic is encrypted including Skype calls, IM, chat forums, mail etc.

Currently we support OpenVPN with 256bit AES encryption and PPTP VPN with MPPE 128bit encryption and MS-Chap-v2. In the near future we will also support IPsec, and it will automatically be possible to use your current account with that, at no extra cost.

Unblocking

Sometimes your ISP, government, workplace or school will block certain sites and services so you can not access them or only access them at reduced speed.

Our VPN connection will unblock your connection so that everything on the internet is available to you at full speed.

This is possible because when you use our VPN connection, they will not be able to tell what sites you are visiting or what services you are using so they will not know what to block.

Filesharing

Many other VPN providers don't allow filesharing such as BitTorrent.

CitizenVPN supports and allow all filesharing protocols incl. BitTorrent.

If you download files through BitTorrent and other filesharing protocols without protection, anybody can see your IP address and ultimately track you down.

With CitizenVPN nobody can see your IP address even when up- or downloading files through BitTorrent.

Watch TV

Many TV stations around the world allow you to watch TV for FREE directly from their website. This often includes the latest popular TV shows.

This TV is often restricted to computers in the country of the TV station.

With CitizenVPN you can appear to be from that country, and watch the TV!

Just use our VPN server that is located in the right country (e.g. for USA TV use our USA VPN server), and it will work instantly.

Note that even though it works great, some TV stations don't officially allow it as written in the Terms & Conditions on their site.

Firewall

When you connect to the internet, there are worms that randomly try to guess your IP address and connect straight to your computer.

Without a firewall you are vulnerable to attacks and an unprotected computer can become infected within a few minutes.

With CitizenVPN you automatically get an extra firewall between your computer and the internet. If you allready have a firewall that's great, but it allways helps to have an extra layer of protection.

Please note that you still need to protect your computer from other types of attacks so good AntiVirus software is reccomended, even when using CitizenVPN.
